Notes From Our Nurse

Updated: Mar 23, 2023

On March 11, 2020 the Governor of Massachusetts has issued a state of emergency regarding (Coronavirus disease 2019) COVID-19. Adding to the confusion are the myriad of statements from advertisers, news outlets, government spokesperson, and the CDC. Today the biggest villain regarding COVID-19 is misinformation.

Dated March 10th:

Let’s talk about what we know.

We know that COVID-19 is a virus that can spread from person to person. It can also spread via contact with infected surfaces or via airborne transmittal. Often the simple act of coughing by someone with the infection is enough to spread the virus. Preventative measures can be taken to minimize risk by washing your hands, cleaning high traffic surfaces with disinfectants, and minimizing your exposure to large groups.

We also know the CDC has stated that anyone with a mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath should call your healthcare provider immediately.

Our action plan.

  • We are increasing cleaning and sanitation routines for our customers and employees safety.

  • Our stores are currently open in Ipswich, Newburyport and Online. Call and have your order pre-packaged and pre-paid for a quick pick up, otherwise we always offer free shipping on orders over $49.

  • I am available for phone or online video consultations. Have questions about supporting your immune system? Have questions about your CBD regime? Call or email us at info@capeannbotanicals.com to set up an appointment.

Some practical steps to support ourselves through this unsettling time.

  • Get information from trusted sources. To find the real facts and up to date information go to organizations like the CDC and your state government.

  • Get more sleep. If you find yourself staying up late watching the news or surfing social media, consider turning off the tech and committing to getting between 7-9 hours of good sleep (for adults).

  • Lower your exposure to stress. Everywhere you turn has updates, comedy sketches, headlines, and click bait about COVID-19. Be mindful of how it is affecting your stress level.

  • Use this opportunity to commit to your own health. Take some time at home to practice yoga, go for a walk, download a new meditation app, and (in our humble opinion) take your CBD.

We are watching the recommendations of our local government closely and if any other changes happen, we will be sure to inform you through this newsletter and our social media channels. Remember, don't hesitate to reach out to talk more about your health and how we may be able to support better sleep, reduce stress, or other specific concerns.

A Note From Our Registered Nurse.

I’ve been hearing this question a lot, “Can CBD help boost my immune system? Will it help prevent me from getting sick?”

Here’s my answer: Evidence of how CBD directly interacts with your immune  system is inconclusive. What we do know is that CBD can help strengthen the pillars of a strong immune response. Supporting your immune system includes being mindful of stress, getting consistent restorative sleep, and being proactive about chronic aches and pains you may already have. If you’re reading this or have ever spoken with me you know research shows CBD can help support lowering stress, improving sleep, and keeping inflammation at bay. If you could use additional support in any of these areas, please use me as a resource. I am here to help you and our community stay strong and healthy.

Whatever questions you have, please don’t hesitate and reach out. We are here for you. Give us a call or shoot us an email (just hit reply to this newsletter!). Myself and my staff are committed to staying open and will always help you find the right product or service to meet your needs. We recognize that CBD plays a role in the quality of your life, just like it has in mine. In order to keep serving our community, we are taking additional sanitization procedures in the store to keep you and our employees safe. I encourage you to continue to place online and phone orders. If you’re in a hurry curbside pick-up is an option, just give us a call and we will arrange it for you.
